Boko Haram Abducts Passengers on Maiduguri-Kano Highway

A 14-seater bus carrying passengers was kidnapped by Boko Haram militants on the Maiduguri-Kano highway in Northeast Nigeria.

The incident occurred between Mannanari village and Garin Kuturu along the Damaturu highway on Monday evening at around 4:00 pm.

According to Mustapha Haruna, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) who spoke to Reuters, the militants set up barricades on both sides of the road and forcibly abducted some passengers, causing chaos and leaving hundreds of travelers stranded.

Eyewitness Abubar Auno reported that the Boko Haram fighters blocked vehicles on the road and abducted passengers, taking them into the bush. The attack resulted in numerous vehicles having to turn back to Benisheik town, as the Maiduguri-Kano highway is a crucial route connecting various parts of Nigeria.
