The Bauchi media landscape was thrown into mourning on Friday following a tragic road accident involving journalists attached to the Nigeria Television Authority, Channels Television, Bauchi State Television and members of the Correspondents’ Chapel.

In a condolence message issued on behalf of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone E, the union described the incident as a painful setback to the journalism family, extending heartfelt sympathy to the NUJ National Body, the Bauchi State Council and all affected members.

NUJ Zone E Vice President, Zare Baba, said the union was deeply saddened by the unfortunate accident, noting that the thoughts and prayers of journalists across the zone are with the injured colleagues. He prayed that Almighty Allah grants them quick and complete recovery.

The union also applauded the prompt intervention and support of the North East Development Commission, the Bauchi State Government, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Usman Usman, as well as the Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the Bauchi State Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, for their swift and commendable response.

Zonal Secretary, Abubakar Musa Waziri, added that the timely action taken by the authorities helped to cushion the impact of the incident and reflected a strong commitment to the welfare of journalists.
The NUJ prayed for divine protection against the recurrence of such tragic incidents and called for continued safety consciousness in the line of duty.
