In a bold push to energise the grassroots economy ahead of 2027, the Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027 support group has empowered no fewer than 346 small-scale traders across the Katsina senatorial districts, injecting fresh hope into local businesses and livelihoods.
The empowerment initiative, which spans 11 local government areas, is designed to stimulate economic activities at the community level and strengthen self-reliance among petty traders, artisans and women-led enterprises.
Flagging off the programme on Monday in Katsina, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda hailed the gesture as timely and impactful, describing it as “an unforgettable moment” for the beneficiaries. The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, stressed that meaningful development thrives on collaboration between government and credible stakeholders.
Delivering the governor’s message, the Chief of Staff disclosed that all beneficiaries under the Tinubu/Dikko scheme would also be considered for the Renewed Hope initiatives, urging organisers to formally submit the list to enable seamless inclusion. He noted that the intervention would ease economic pressures, rebuild confidence in responsive leadership and deepen public trust.
Governor Radda further described the programme as a reflection of compassion and commitment to the people’s welfare, adding that such acts promote unity and social stability across the state. He called on other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the initiative for the collective good, assuring continued government support for programmes that uplift the most vulnerable.
Earlier, Chairman of Tinubu/Dikko Assured (TDA) 2027, Umar Ahmad-Zayyad, said the empowerment targets the backbone of the local economy—petty traders, artisans and women entrepreneurs. According to him, each beneficiary received ₦30,000 to strengthen businesses and encourage self-reliance.
Ahmad-Zayyad explained that beneficiaries were drawn from the three senatorial zones—Katsina North, Katsina Central and Katsina South—to ensure fairness and inclusive representation. He said the initiative complements government efforts to reduce poverty and stimulate growth.
“This programme is not about politics alone; it is about improving lives and supporting small businesses that keep our communities going,” he said, revealing plans to expand the exercise to other areas, including Katsina and Funtua zones.
Grateful beneficiaries described the support as timely, saying it would help them expand operations, stabilise incomes and improve their livelihoods—proof that when traders are empowered, families and communities thrive.
