In a rare show of unity, beggars and street vendors in Abuja took to the streets to protest against the forceful eviction policies driven by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The eviction order, intended to “sanitize” the capital, has sparked outrage among many who say they have no place to go.
Chants of “We have a right to stay!” echoed as beggars, backed by supporters and human rights advocates, demanded a halt to what they call “a violation of their dignity and livelihood.”
Wike’s administration stands firm on its decision, citing urban development goals, but protesters are determined to be heard.
