In the midst of a fierce royal dispute, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, has initiated an ambitious renovation of the historic Nasarawa Palace.
Despite being dethroned by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in May 2024 and locked in a battle with his nephew, the reinstated 16th Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, Bayero is pressing ahead with the facelift using his own funds.
Renovations include expanding the Hubbare, the royal graveyard, and plans for new railings and a grand gate.
This move signals Bayero’s determination to maintain his royal legacy, even as the courts and state government continue to wrestle over the emirship.
