Bauchi’s Education Leaders Land in Morocco for Strategic Visit

A high powered delegation of Bauchi State Ministry of Education and officials of the Bauchi State Universal Education Board led by the Commissioner Dr Jamila Dahiru- Muhammad are currently in Morocco on an educational visit to have a first information on how to move Bauchi Educational sector forward in formal and informal system of Education having been left behind with a high number of school drop outs according to statistics by the World Bank not until recently when the Ministry of Education along with Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board who took the bull by the horns in tackling the problems of that permeated the education sector in the State and this is why the Ministry deems if fit to look elsewhere inorder to improve on the current system.

The delegation includes the Chairman of the Bauchi State Universal Education Board Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri Wakilin Bauchi and Sarkin Duguri, two Permanent Secretaries, Education Alhaji Aliyu Babayo and the immediate past Permanent Secretary Sale Yakubu Ningi.

The first port of call was a visit to the Nigerian Embassy in Rabat where the Consulate general Adamu Salisu Zannuwa welcomed the delegates and briefed them on the relationship between Nigeria and Morocco and the Educational policies of the country. He said there are over one thousand Nigerian students studying in Morocco in different Universities pursuing degrees in various fields while there are a little over four hundred on Government scholarships while about six hundred are privately sponsored.

Earlier, leader of the Educational visit who is also the Bauchi State Commissioner of Education Dr Jamila Mohammed Dahiru informed the Consul General of their mission to Morocco which is to study the country’s Educational policies formally and informally which Bauchi State wishes to study and implement.
The Commissioner commended and acknowledge the contribution of Morocco as a leader in Education not only in Africa but the World at large and hopes for a closer relationship between Morocco and Bauchi State in particular where if possible Morocco to give more opportunities for Bauchi State indigenes to have places in various Institutions.

Other places visited by the delegation were schools around the cities of Fes and Casablanca where the Commissioner had interactive session with officials of the various Institutions on how they run their schools curriculum and also had a parly with Nigerian students.
The delegation is expected back to Nigeria on the 30th 2024
