Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has firmly thrown his weight behind Senator Abdul Ningi, who recently faced a three-month suspension from the Senate for his outspokenness regarding the absence of N3.7 trillion in the 2024 budget.
Senator Ningi, representing Bauchi Central senatorial district, faced official suspension by the Senate on Tuesday, sparking controversy and debate.
Addressing the State Executive Council meeting at the Bauchi Government House on Wednesday, Governor Mohammed voiced his unequivocal support for Senator Ningi.
He expressed dismay over the suspension, stating, “Yesterday, I was deeply saddened by the Senate’s decision to suspend one of our finest representatives from Bauchi.
He was penalized for speaking the truth, for standing up as a champion of honesty.”
The governor further emphasized, “I wholeheartedly support Senator Ningi in his endeavors, especially when he is advocating for the truth.
We will explore all avenues to lend him our support in private discussions.”
Governor Mohammed’s staunch support for Senator Ningi underscores the importance of standing up for truth and integrity in governance, despite the repercussions.
