All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been implored to stand firm against undermining or compromising the party in Bauchi state for what was perceived as selfish, unpopular and unacceptable interest of few stakeholders ahead of the 2027 polls.
A coalition of APC and President Tinubu Support Groups has observed an underhand efforts by some few stakeholders to subvert the will and choice of the overwhelming majority of stakeholders as expressed in the result of the recently concluded state congress.
The coalition which comprised of over 70 APC support groups recalled at a press conference in Bauchi Monday that the party congress has came up with new set of APC Executives who were duly elected, endorsed and returned as monitored by INEC, security agencies, the media and majority stakeholders
Leaders and member of the multiple groups collectively at the press conference drew the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC national chairman and party leaders at all levels to what they described as some unsettling and quite disturbing developments arising out of the recently concluded state congress of the party in Bauchi state.
The press conference led by the groups advisory board chairman, Barrister Jibrin S. Jibrin presented a certified true copy of the result of state congress which returned Alhaji Muhammad Hassan Tilde, Alhaji Mustapha Zirami and Alhaji Yakubu Muhammed among others as State Chairman, Secretary and Organizing Secretary of the party, respectively.
Advisory board chairman expressed worrisome that after the exercise was duly concluded between the 3rd and 4th March 2026, the disgruntled forces who have been largely responsible for the party’s dismal outing in the past presidential and other elections in the state launched a self-serving attempt to thwart the exercise.
The disgruntled grand design, according to him, was to manipulate the result of the congress such that the persons already elected and returned as the State Secretary, Organizing Secretary, among others, would be replaced by their own candidates who have been roundly defeated at the exercise.
Jibrin Jibrin pleaded, “Mr. President, this is the problem. Against this background, Sir, the party in Bauchi state needs your intervention and that of the national leadership of the party so that your victory come 2027 and that of the party as a whole is not derailed on the altar of the selfish interest of these few”.
“May we add that the Congress in reference in Bauchi State where these party executives emerged like in other states in the country were conducted in compliance with Article 20 (ii) (a) and (iv) of the extant APC Constitution and the Electoral Act 2026”.
“Surprisingly, however, while most, if not all states across the country have inaugurated their new leaders, this is not the case with Bauchi State and that may not be unconnected with the attempt to alter the overall will of the stakeholders”.
Groups Chief further recalled, “It happened in 2019. It occurred again in 2023. It must not be repeated in 2027 especially after majority of our stakeholders having learnt from the past mistakes have resolved to work together for the unity of the party, victory of Mr. President and our other candidates hence the peaceful and acceptable conduct of the congress exercise”.
Barrister Jibrin who argued that
they have come a long way in putting the party on the path of victory, with the great progress recorded must not be reversed for whatever reason, and reiterated that Bauchi is unique, advanced and sophisticated politically with it’s people having renewed their faith and love for APC and Mr. President.
“Our stakeholders in the party as leaders and representatives have spoken for us on the choice of who our state executive committee are. They have particularly elected and returned Alhaji Mustapha Zirami and Hon. Yakubu Muhammed as the State Secretary and Organizing Secretary, respectively, clearly showing democracy in action”
The groups with members in hundreds at the press conference held at Bauchi Double 4 Hall conclusively thumped up thus, “Let the will of our party members and leaders prevail. There is no other way to deliver the much desired Tinubu victory and other APC candidates in Bauchi state come 2027 than doing just this, please!!
