In the early hours today, a fierce confrontation broke out between Nigerian soldiers, local residents of Gatawa, and the infamous bandit leader Bello Turji with his men.

Reports say the intense fighting erupted around 6:00 a.m. near Bakin Gulbi, close to Tungar Yakuba in Sokoto State.
