The tragic event unfolded as villagers, under the protection of a small army unit, were fortifying their defenses by digging trenches. The attackers struck without warning, unleashing a barrage of gunfire on the unsuspecting residents.
Burkina Faso’s government has condemned the massacre, pledging swift retribution against the perpetrators.
