Recent defections by politicians from one Party to another is gathering momentum, this is as the former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Ibrahim Kashim, has also resign the ruling party of the State the Peoples Democratic Party to a yet unidentified Party.
Kashim was a Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, before he withdrew for Governor Bala Mohammed.
In a resignation letter dated July 21, 2025 and made available to reporters today Monday was addressed to the Chairman, Majidadi Ward, Kashim announced his resignation but did not state the reason.
“Be that as it may, after due consideration. I wish to formally notify you that I have, effective the date of this letter, resigned my membership of the PDP and hope to explore other avenues of seeking the mandate of our people to serve them with the same commitment, passion, honesty of purpose, trustworthiness and above all fear of Allah SWT,” he said.
Kashim extended gratitude to the leadership of his ward for giving him the opportunity to be a member of PDP, which ultimately led to his being honored with nomination as the flag bearer of the party to contest the gubernatorial election in the state during the 2023 national elections.
Recall that a few months to the 2023 governorship election, Kashim stepped down his candidacy for Governor Bala Mohammed who contested the presidential ticket of the Party.
In support of the Governor, Kashim said he traversed across all Local Government areas of Bauchi during the campaign “even as I discharged my responsibilities as the Secretary to the State Government, to ensure, against all odds and historical challenges of second term candidates winning in the local government, that we delivered and won in virtually all wards.”
Kashim extended gratitude to the leadership of his ward for allowing him to be a member of PDP, which ultimately led to his being honoured with nomination as the flag bearer of the party to contest the gubernatorial election in the state during the 2023 national elections.
