Fresh fears have gripped residents of Getso town in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State after suspected bandits stormed the community in a late-night raid, leaving one person dead, another injured and several cattle stolen.
Sources within the community said the armed attackers invaded the quiet agrarian town at about 2:00 a.m. on Friday, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents who were jolted from sleep.
During the attack, the gunmen reportedly shot and killed one resident while another sustained injuries in the chaos that followed. The injured victim was said to have been rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The assailants also rustled a large number of cattle belonging to local farmers before fleeing the area under the cover of darkness.
Residents described the incident as terrifying, noting that the attackers operated for several minutes without resistance before escaping with the stolen livestock.
Community members said the attack has deepened anxiety in the area, as rural settlements across northern Nigeria continue to grapple with repeated raids by armed groups targeting villages, farmers and livestock.
