The Zamfara State Police Command has dealt a decisive blow to armed bandits who attempted to storm Maru metropolitan area in the early hours of Sunday, December 28, 2025, with plans for a large-scale abduction.
Acting on credible and timely intelligence, a joint security task force comprising the Police, Military, Community Protection Guards, and Vigilante Groups swiftly confronted the attackers. A fierce engagement followed, forcing the bandits to retreat into surrounding bushes with suspected gunshot injuries.
Police authorities confirmed that no lives were lost and no abductions occurred, marking a major security success and averting what could have been a traumatic incident for residents.
In the aftermath of the foiled invasion, security presence has been significantly reinforced across Maru and neighbouring communities to prevent any regrouping or retaliatory attacks.
Commending the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, reassured residents that the Command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property across Zamfara State.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that there is no hiding place for criminals in the state.
The Command said it will sustain aggressive patrols, intelligence-led operations, and joint security actions to keep Zamfara safe, especially during the festive period.
