Security forces on Wednesday recorded a decisive operational victory in Karaduwa village, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, dealing a heavy setback to criminal elements terrorising the axis.
In a swift and coordinated action, troops engaged armed bandits in a fierce encounter that left three criminals neutralised, while several others fled with gunshot injuries. One suspect was arrested alive, providing security agencies with a valuable lead as investigations deepen.
The operation also led to the recovery of eight motorcycles and assorted weapons, items believed to have been used by the fleeing gang to launch attacks on rural communities and escape security pressure.
Residents of Karaduwa and neighbouring villages hailed the operation as a long-awaited relief, describing it as a clear signal that the noose is tightening around criminal networks operating across the area.
Security sources said the success underscores renewed intelligence-led operations and sustained patrols aimed at dismantling bandit hideouts, cutting off mobility, and restoring confidence among local communities.
“This operation sends a strong message: there will be no safe haven for criminals,” a source noted, adding that follow-up operations are underway to track fleeing suspects and clear surrounding forests.
The latest breakthrough marks a significant blow to banditry in Matazu LGA, reinforcing the determination of security forces to reclaim troubled corridors across Katsina State.
Kudos to the gallant troops whose resilience, professionalism and sacrifice continue to push back the tide of insecurity and keep communities safe.
