Gov. Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto state, on has commiserated the families of Alhaji Isa Bawa, the District of Gatawa killed by kidnappers and pledged proactive measures to safeguard peoples lives in the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by Aliyu’s spokesman, Malam Abubakar Bawa and made available to the Newsmen in Sokoto.

Ahmad described the circumstances leading to the death of the late ruler as very unfortunate, barbaric, inhumane, and condemnable.

” I received the sad news of the death of the District Head with deep shock, described the monarch as pious, upright, honest and a peace loving personality who dedicated his life to the service of his people and humanity as a whole, ” Aliyu.

In a separate statement issued by Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC Sokoto North) through is aide, Bashar Abubakar, Wamakko dondemed barbaric act and commiserated the families of the deceased Emir.

Also, Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (PDP Sokoto South) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through the State’s Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sayyinlawan, also commiserated the families of deceased traditional ruler who the party described as peace loving individual.

It was reported that Bawa who was formerly District Head of Sabon Birni local government before his transfered to Gatawa District under the same Sabon Birni local government was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on his way to Sokoto.

Bawa, 74, spent about 24 days in captivity due to failure of family members to redeem the kidnappers ransome demands despite circulated vedio of the deceased Emir pleading for help.

It was gathered that burial prayer was conducted in absencial in accordance with Islamic right as deceased corpse had not been repatriated while residents of Sabon Birni were mourning the death of the traditional ruler with wide condemnations on the way authorities handle the situations.
