Victims of recent bandit attacks in Kebbi State have received a major relief boost as the National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) donated N10 million and assorted relief materials to affected communities.
The Managing Director, Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwa, announced the intervention during a condolence visit to Shanga Local Government Area, where multiple communities were ravaged by deadly attacks that claimed lives and destroyed properties worth millions.
Describing the incident as “catastrophic and condemnable,” Sadiq-Yelwa said the commission moved swiftly to cushion the hardship faced by victims, providing food items, cooking essentials, blankets, and other household supplies.
The attacks hit Kawara, Binuwa, Kalkami, Dabe, Kasoshi, Kafar Giwa, and Sa Madubi communities, leaving many residents displaced and in distress.
Commending the Kebbi State Government’s response, the N-HYPPADEC boss expressed confidence in the efforts of Governor Nasir Idris to restore peace in the troubled areas.
Responding on behalf of the governor, Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Garba Salisu-Takware, praised the timely support, assuring that the cash and materials would be fairly distributed to victims.
In a related visit, the delegation also condoled with the Emir of Yauri, Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi, who lauded the commission for standing by the affected communities in their time of need.
