BANDIT KINGPIN FREES 37 HOSTAGES IN KATSINA’S BAKORI LGA

Borno State Government

A feared bandit kingpin, Isiya Kwashen Garwa, has released 37 abducted persons from captivity in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, offering a rare moment of relief amid the unrelenting wave of insecurity gripping the region.

The victims—made up of men and women taken during recent assaults on rural communities—regained their freedom on Wednesday after spending several harrowing days in the forest.

Sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama that residents across the Bakori–Funtua corridor have been living in heightened fear as kidnappings and violent raids escalate.

A community member who spoke on the development expressed profound gratitude for the safe return of the 37 hostages while praying for others still held by criminal gangs.

“May Allah rescue our remaining brothers and sisters in the hands of these criminals and bring an end to their reign and those sponsoring them,” he said.

The release of the abductees has sparked cautious hope, even as security forces continue efforts to dismantle bandit networks terrorising Katsina and neighbouring states.
