Azare to Akwa Ibom Cops: Stay Ahead of Criminals or Step Aside

Borno State Government

The has issued a fresh marching order to its officers, urging intensified crime-fighting, strict professionalism and proactive policing across the state.

Commissioner of Police delivered the charge at the Command’s end-of-month Conference of Senior Police Officers held at the Officers’ Mess on Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, where he reviewed the security landscape and rolled out new operational directives.

While commending officers for recent gains against crime, CP Azare stressed that expectations remain high. “The mandate is clear: stay ahead of criminals. Be proactive, intelligence-driven and professionally decisive. There is no room for complacency,” he warned.

He directed all formations to scale up visibility policing, aggressive patrols, sustained stop-and-search operations, swift response to distress calls and robust intelligence gathering to keep criminals on the back foot.

The Commissioner also underscored discipline, integrity and respect for human rights, noting that public confidence in policing is built on lawful conduct. Any misconduct or corruption, he cautioned, would attract stiff sanctions, while outstanding performance would be rewarded.

CP Azare further tasked Area Commanders, DPOs and Tactical Commanders with hands-on leadership and close supervision of operations, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to collaboration with sister agencies, community leaders and stakeholders to keep Akwa Ibom safe.

The Command, he said, remains resolute in safeguarding lives and property and maintaining law and order at all times.
