AYPN to Tinubu: Fire Security Chiefs Now or Lose Public Trust over Rising Insecurity

The Afenifere Youth Vanguard for Peace in Nigeria (AYPN) has issued a scathing call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, demanding the immediate sack of all underperforming security chiefs over what it describes as a national security collapse.

The group’s outcry follows a chilling revelation by Plateau State lawmaker Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, who told the House of Representatives that terrorists had taken control of military bases and seized over 40 combat vehicles in Borno State. He questioned whether Nigeria still retains control of its borders, warning of a looming crisis.

In a Sunday press release, AYPN President Olatunji Fadare accused the Tinubu administration of turning the defence sector into a “contract-sharing racket” instead of a bastion of national protection. He slammed the continued dismissal of security alerts raised by governors and lawmakers, particularly those from Borno State.

“When patriotic voices are silenced and security alerts ignored, criminals are emboldened. This is a betrayal of public trust,” Fadare said.

AYPN called for an urgent merit-based overhaul of the security hierarchy, warning that ongoing killings, abductions, and military defeats are eroding the nation’s confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.

“The blood of our soldiers and innocent citizens cries out for justice. That justice starts with removing those who have failed to protect them,” the group declared.
