Atiku Slams Live Ammo on Peaceful Protesters

Katsina state government

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has fiercely condemned the use of live ammunition on citizens peacefully protesting against bad governance in Kano and Abuja, branding it an intolerable act reminiscent of military dictatorship’s darkest days.

Atiku stressed the government’s duty to protect citizens exercising their right to protest without fear.

He warned that security forces’ actions in opening fire on innocent protesters only exacerbate tensions, transforming peaceful demonstrations into chaos.

Calling for international intervention, Atiku urged the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to monitor Nigeria’s situation closely and hold its leadership and security agencies accountable.

He also counseled protesters to remain peaceful and urged the prosecution of those looting and destroying property.

“President Tinibu must demonstrate true leadership by addressing and implementing the demands of the Nigerian people,” Atiku stated.
