Patients with Kidney Dialysis problems have now cause to smile, this is just as the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital has come out with a subsidized fees paid by patients for Dialysis which is an effort to reduce the financial burden faced by patients.
This gesture has come as part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda .
A statement signed by the Head of Public Relations Unit of the Teaching Hospital, Usman Abdullahi Koli, says formerly a patient pays the sum of (N40,000) Forty thousand Naira but has now been reduced to an affordable fee of( N12,000) Twelve thousand Naira per session.
The Chief Medical Director of
the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, Professor Yusuf Bara Jibrin who has taken a bold step to address the financial challenges faced by patients says as at present over 45 Thousand patients have benefited from the subsidized services that requires kidney dialysis.
Prof. Yusuf Bara Jibrin revealed that the Federal Ministry of Health and social welfare had not only ensured the availability of consumables in large quantities but also provided a new Dialysis Machine to support the Hospital ‘s efforts.
“This initiative showcase the Government’s commitment to making quality Health care accessible to all, especially during this trying period, Professor Jibrin remarked, he further
expressed optimism about the program’s impact.
Over 45 beneficiaries have already accessed the subsidized services, with many expressing profound gratitude for the intervention. A patient says, “This program has brought hope to many of us who could not afford treatment before. It is truly life-changing.”
The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the financial strain on families and improve the overall health outcomes for patients. By equipping the hospital with necessary resources, ATBUTH is poised to deliver uninterrupted services to a growing number of patients from Bauchi and neighboring states.
Prof. Jibrin further emphasized that this initiative aligns with the hospital’s mission of providing affordable and high-quality healthcare while strengthening public trust in the healthcare system. He assured the public that ATBUTH will continue to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to sustain and expand similar programs for the benefit of all citizens.
