Arewa ADC Youths Erupt Over Kaduna Crisis, Demand El-Rufai’s Release, Leadership Restoration

Borno State Government

Tensions are rising within the opposition ranks as the Coalition of Arewa ADC Youths has issued a fiery statement condemning what it described as deepening political repression and leadership controversy rocking Kaduna State and the national structure of the party.

Led by Engr. Khalid and Hauwa Ahmad, the coalition accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of undermining internal democracy by withdrawing recognition from what it called the “rightful leadership” of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group insisted that the National Working Committee under David Mark remains the only legitimate authority steering the party, warning that any attempt to sideline it could worsen the ongoing crisis.

In a dramatic twist, the youths also demanded the immediate release of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, alleging that his continued detention is unlawful and politically motivated.

They further decried what they described as a sustained crackdown on their members, accusing authorities of orchestrating arrests, harassment, and intimidation targeted at ADC youths across Kaduna.

“The rule of law must prevail. State institutions must not be weaponised against political opponents,” the statement declared.

The coalition warned that failure to address their demands could trigger wider unrest within party ranks, as the unfolding developments continue to test the stability of opposition politics in the region.
