Appeal Court Backs PDP Shake-Up, Upholds Suspension of Anyanwu, Abdulrahman, Ajibade, Bature

Borno State Government

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has upheld the suspension of four top officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), affirming an earlier ruling that removed them from their respective positions.

In a decision that could further deepen the internal crisis rocking the opposition party, the appellate court sustained the suspension of Samuel Anyanwu, the former National Secretary; Abdulrahman Mohammed, the National Vice Chairman (North Central); Kamaldeen Ajibade, the National Legal Adviser; and Bature Umar.

Appellate court also upheld the earlier judgement delivered by James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, which had validated the suspension of the party chieftains.

The ruling effectively reinforces the legality of the disciplinary measures taken against the four officials, dealing a significant blow to their attempts to overturn the decision.

Political observers say the judgement may have far-reaching implications for the internal power dynamics within the PDP, as the party continues to grapple with leadership disputes ahead of future political contests.
