APC SHAKES UP 2026 CONVENTION TEAM: MASARI TAKES CHARGE, UZODIMMA MOVES TO TREASURY

Borno State Government

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has carried out a strategic reshuffle of its preparations for the 2026 National Convention, appointing former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari as Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee.

In the new arrangement, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who was earlier named chairman of the powerful committee, has been reassigned to serve as Treasurer—signalling what party insiders describe as a tactical realignment rather than a downgrade.

The shake-up also comes with an expansion of the committee’s membership, which has been increased from 73 to 90, opening the door for broader inclusion of party heavyweights and strategic stakeholders.

Among the newly accommodated members is Senator Barry Mpigi, alongside several other influential chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, in a move aimed at strengthening internal cohesion ahead of the crucial national gathering.

Party sources say the reconstituted committee reflects the APC’s determination to deliver a smooth, inclusive and well-coordinated 2026 National Convention—one expected to shape the party’s direction in the years ahead.
