APC Sets Stage for 2026 Convention, Masari to Chair Central Committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified preparations for its 2026 National Convention with the inauguration of a high-powered National Convention Central Coordination Committee slated for Wednesday in Abuja.

According to a statement issued on February 23, 2026, by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the inauguration will hold on February 25 at 2:00 p.m. inside the NWC Hall of the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Former Katsina State Governor and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Bello Masari, will chair the strategic committee tasked with steering activities ahead of the crucial convention.

Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, has been named Vice Chairman I, while the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman II.

Also appointed into key roles are the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, who will serve as Treasurer, and the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, who takes up the position of Secretary.

The party said the full composition of the committee remains as earlier published, adding that the body will coordinate all activities to ensure a peaceful and successful conduct of the 2026 National Convention.

The inauguration marks a significant step in the ruling party’s build-up to what is expected to be a defining political gathering ahead of the next electoral cycle.
