The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Isa Achida, has criticised the eight-year administration of former Gov. Aminu Tambuwal, describing it as ”era of stagnation ” in the state.
Achida made the criticism in an interview with the newsmen on Tuesday in Sokoto.
He alleged that Tambuwal has refused to formally hand over to incumbent Gov. Ahmed Aliyu in 2023 to avoid being documented as leaving behind “a state riddled with abandoned projects.
The APC chairman said that Tambuwal deliberately aimed at frustrating the Aliyu administration.
He, however, praised the incumbent governor for what he described as prudent financial management and visible infrastructure delivery without borrowing.
“Since Aliyu assumed office, salaries are paid on or before the end of every month, the new minimum wage has been implemented, and major projects are ongoing all without loans.
“He is focused on the welfare of the people, not looting their resources,” Achida said.
Achida further argued that the former governor lacked an independent base, relying heavily on godfathers such as Sen. Aliyu Wamakko to secure power.
The party chairman noted that Tambuwal would not contest the next governorship or senatorial elections, declaring him “politically retired.”
“No Abuja alliance, no media propaganda, no recycled coalition can revive a politician whose only legacy is propaganda and a collapsed state,” the APC chairman said.
