The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially accepted the resignation of its former National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at its 174th meeting held today in Abuja.
The high-level session, chaired by the acting National Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, marked a significant turning point for the ruling party, signaling both a change in leadership and a renewed pledge to uphold party unity and democratic values.
In a communique issued after the meeting, the NWC expressed deep appreciation for Ganduje’s leadership, describing his tenure as impactful and invaluable to the growth of the APC. The Committee also extended heartfelt wishes for his quick recovery.
“The APC remains a united, formidable political family,” Dalori declared during the meeting. “We will continue to work as one indivisible body to protect our internal democracy and consolidate on the gains made so far.”
Dalori, who previously served as the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to party discipline, national development, and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He assured party members and Nigerians at large of the APC’s continued focus on economic prosperity, political stability, and social harmony, emphasizing that the new leadership is fully aligned with the vision of President Tinubu.
The resignation of Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano State, follows weeks of speculation about internal shifts within the party. However, the NWC was quick to reaffirm that the transition would not disrupt the party’s cohesion or momentum.
With the 2027 election cycle already on the horizon, today’s meeting is seen as a strategic step to recalibrate the party’s machinery and bolster confidence in its leadership structure.
“The APC is moving forward — united, prepared, and committed to delivering on its promises to the Nigerian people,” Dalori concluded.
