In a heartfelt appeal on Thursday, UNICEF Global Champions, Ali Nuhu and Sadau Ramau, expressed deep concern over the alarming number of children facing malnutrition in Katsina State.

Speaking at a press conference in the state’s metropolitan area, the duo urged stakeholders to step up efforts to combat the crisis and reduce the growing child mortality rate.

This follows the state’s partnership with UNICEF, which on Wednesday secured N400 million worth of nutritional supplements to be distributed to 8,000 malnourished children. The initiative aims to provide immediate relief, but the stars stressed the need for a long-term solution.

“What we saw was truly pathetic,” Nuhu said, reflecting on visits to various councils.

“The number of children being brought to health centers because of malnutrition is on the rise, and it’s heartbreaking.”

Sadau echoed the urgency, calling for sustained action to ensure a brighter future for Katsina’s children.

“We cannot afford to rest. The future of these children depends on our immediate intervention.”
