Concern over rising insecurity took centre stage in Katsina as the Honourable Member representing his constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Ali Abu Albaba, received a delegation of residents from the Community Development Association (CDA) behind the College of Medical Sciences at his residence.
The delegation, led by CDA Chairman Salisu Bala, raised the alarm over increasing cases of phone snatching, motorcycle theft and other security threats, which they said were disrupting peace in the area and posing danger to residents.
Responding, Hon. Abu Albaba assured the community of immediate action, describing their visit as timely and necessary.
He disclosed that arrangements have been concluded to convene an on-the-spot stakeholders’ meeting by Wednesday or Thursday, bringing together officials of the Katsina Ministry of Lands, the Katsina Urban and Development Board, and community leaders to assess the security and environmental challenges fueling the crimes.
According to the lawmaker, the intervention will cover the affected suburbs, including areas around the teaching hospital axis, with the aim of identifying loopholes being exploited by miscreants and providing lasting solutions.
“Insha Allah, we will visit the area, study the problem from the root and find a natural and permanent solution,” he assured.
Earlier, Salisu Bala said the community decided to approach their representative directly after security challenges in the neighbourhood worsened. He thanked Hon. Abu Albaba for the warm reception and for listening attentively to their concerns.
The CDA chairman added that the community welcomed the lawmaker’s directive to formally write to the state government, noting that the assurance to forward the complaints to the Governor had renewed their hope for decisive action.
Residents left the meeting encouraged, expressing confidence that the planned stakeholders’ engagement would mark a turning point in restoring safety and tranquility to the area.
