Akwa Ibom Police Raid Uyo Drug Dens, Arrest Four Suspects

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has intensified its war against illicit drugs with the arrest of four suspected dealers during late-night raids across Uyo metropolis.

The coordinated operation, carried out around 10:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, followed credible intelligence reports that led operatives to several black spots notorious for drug activities.

Those arrested include Gideon Patrick Edet, Paul Joseph Effiong, Mfon Cletus Ikpe, and Gideon Edet Etim. A large quantity of suspected illicit substances, including Indian hemp, was recovered during the sweep.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the development in a statement yesterday, assuring that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the wider network behind the trade.

The Command reiterated its commitment to rid Akwa Ibom of drug-related crimes while urging residents to continue providing timely information to aid security efforts.
