The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough with the arrest of a suspected ritualist and the recovery of a firearm in Uruan Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John disclosed that on July 29, 2025, at about 6:51 p.m., operatives acting on credible intelligence stormed Nung Oku Village, where they apprehended 30-year-old Cletus Effiong Bassey at his shrine.
Bassey is suspected of supplying native charms and so-called “bullet repellers” to armed robbers. A search of his compound led to the recovery of a fabricated single-barrel gun.
