Akwa Ibom Police Nab Suspected Cultists, Recover Guns, Ammunition

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered firearms, ammunition, and other incriminating items during a targeted operation in Ikpe Usung Ita, Obot Akara Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as 41-year-old Emmanuel Udo Ukut and 42-year-old Marshall Asuquo John, were apprehended in the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2025, while operatives investigated a case of stolen phones.

Items recovered from the duo include a single-barrel den gun, three live cartridges, one expanded cartridge, a black beret with cult insignia, a facemask hood, a belt, three mobile phones, and a nylon bag containing a substance suspected to be gunpowder.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.

The Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to rid the state of cultism and other criminal activities.
