A suspected inside job has been uncovered in Eket as the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested a hotel security guard for allegedly stealing newly acquired bar chairs from the hotel’s storehouse.
According to a statement released by DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, the suspect, identified as Mr. Ifeanyi Nnadozie, was apprehended on July 25, 2025, following a report filed by the hotel’s management. The incident occurred at a popular hotel located along Afaha Eket Road, Eket Local Government Area.
The hotel’s storehouse was reportedly broken into around 2:00 PM, and several bar chairs meant to upgrade the facility’s lounge were carted away by unknown individuals.
Swift police investigations, however, turned the spotlight on Mr. Nnadozie, who was on duty the night before the burglary. A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of all stolen items.
“The suspect has since confessed to the crime and will be charged to court,” the statement concluded.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command reiterated its commitment to stamping out criminal activities and urged establishments to be vigilant, even with internal staff.
