Akwa Ibom Police Crack Down on One-Way Driving, Warn of Arrests, Prosecution

Borno State Government

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has issued a strong warning to motorists, commercial drivers, tricyclists, motorcyclists and cyclists to immediately desist from driving against the flow of traffic, popularly known as one-way driving, or face arrest and prosecution.

The Command expressed grave concern over the rising cases of traffic violations involving road users who unlawfully operate against traffic, describing the practice as a serious threat to public safety. According to the police, one-way driving remains a major cause of road crashes, injuries, loss of lives and destruction of property across the state.

Following the development, the Commissioner of Police has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Traffic Units and Tactical Teams to intensify enforcement operations statewide and ensure that offenders are arrested and prosecuted without exception.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to road safety, peace and order on all highways and streets across Akwa Ibom State.
