In a heartfelt gesture of honor and compassion, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has presented over N37 million in benefits to the families of officers who died in active service.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, handed over the cheques totaling N37,280,296.36 to 33 beneficiaries during a solemn presentation held at the command headquarters in Uyo. The funds are part of the IGP Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance Schemes, issued on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM.
Speaking at the event, CP Azare praised the IGP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families, describing the gesture as a powerful symbol that the sacrifices of fallen officers will never be forgotten.
“These brave men gave their lives for peace and order,” Azare said. “Though they are no longer with us, this support reminds their families that their service and sacrifice remain etched in the heart of the Force.”
He further reassured the families that the Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to sustaining the welfare of its members and urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely in remembrance of their loved ones.
The event marked a poignant moment of reflection, underscoring the Police Force’s resolve to care for its own—even in death.
