In a decisive raid fueled by credible intelligence, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered a cache of items including a firearm, drugs, and suspected stolen documents.
The operation, which took place on Thursday, July 31, around 2:30 PM at a hotel in Ikot-Udota, Eket Local Government Area, led to the arrest of: Uwemedimo Michael Udah, 29, from Uyo LGA, Prince Emmanuel Amasi-Tito, 32 and from Eleme LGA, Rivers State.
Items recovered from the scene include:
One English Beretta pistol with three live 9mm rounds, A laptop, two Android phones, an MTN router, Suspected drug mixtures, and Three power-of-attorney documents believed to be stolen.
According to police, the suspects are part of a criminal gang allegedly formed by expelled students and dropouts from a yet-to-be-disclosed institution. The gang is linked to extortion, rape, cybercrime, and other illicit activities.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the group is led by Etieno Gideon James and another individual known only as “Ale,” both currently on the run. A manhunt is underway to bring them to justice.
Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to public safety, stating, “This operation underscores our resolve to dismantle criminal networks threatening peace in Akwa Ibom.”
The Command urges residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
