The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its fight against crime, cracking down on illicit drug activities within the Uyo metropolis.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Command stormed several notorious black spots around 10:00pm on Monday, August 18, 2025, in a series of well-coordinated raids.
The operation led to the arrest of four male suspects identified as Gideon Patrick Edet, Paul Joseph Effiong, Mfon Cletus Ikpe, and Gideon Edet Etim. A large cache of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs was recovered during the sting.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, confirmed the arrests, noting that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the wider network fueling the illicit trade in the state.
The Command reiterated its resolve to rid Akwa Ibom of criminal activities while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies.
