Nigeria’s long-awaited gas-to-power revolution took a decisive leap forward on Tuesday as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bashir Ojulari, announced readiness to connect the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline to power industries across the North.
The announcement followed a high-level briefing with Bola Tinubu, marking a major milestone for a project widely regarded as a game-changer for energy security, industrial growth and regional development.
According to Ojulari, the NNPC is set to deliver gas to critical industrial hubs in Kano and Kaduna, while also supplying strategic nodes in Ajaokuta and Abuja—unlocking reliable power for factories, businesses and households.
The AKK project, initiated under the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari, stands as one of his most enduring legacies.
