In a decisive move to curb rising insecurity, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 14, Katsina, AIG Bello Shehu, has ordered a sweeping crackdown on banditry and violent crimes across Katsina and Kaduna States.
Acting on the directives of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the AIG mandated Commissioners of Police in the zone to immediately deploy specialized tactical units to reclaim troubled areas, dismantle criminal networks, and reinforce a strong police presence in high-risk communities.
The operation, described as strategic and coordinated, will see intensified patrols across forests, rural settlements, highways, and public spaces, with all tactical units placed on red alert.
AIG Shehu also emphasized robust inter-agency collaboration, directing joint operations with other security outfits to boost intelligence sharing and ensure swift responses to threats.
Supervisory officers have been tasked with enforcing discipline and accountability among personnel, while residents were urged to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely information.
The move signals a renewed and aggressive push by security forces to stamp out banditry and restore confidence across the North-West zone.
