In a thought-provoking statement on his X account, Bashir Ahmad spotlighted the Dawanu Market as a significant yet underutilized asset in Kano State.
Describing it as “arguably one of the largest agricultural markets in West Africa,” Ahmad lamented the lack of strategic efforts to leverage its potential for enhanced productivity, value addition, and income generation.
He expressed frustration over the politicization of developmental calls, stating, “If you now call on the Governor to prioritize focus on agriculture, his supporters will remind you about the shortcomings of previous governors or even tag you as an enemy of the state.”
Ahmad urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to rise above such distractions and focus on making Kano a leader in agricultural development, stating, “This mentality stalls progress. It is time for Gov. Kabir Abba Yusuf put Kano’s future first.”
The message has sparked widespread conversations, with many supporting the call for a renewed focus on agriculture to secure Kano’s economic future.
