A fresh political storm has erupted as Nafiu Bala Gombe launched a blistering counterattack on Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, dismissing claims about his age and accusing the former Kano governor of meddling in affairs that do not concern him.
In a fiery statement, Bala Gombe set the record straight, declaring he is 46—not 35 as allegedly suggested—while challenging Kwankwaso to verify facts before making public assertions.
“Even if I were younger, he has no right to look down on me,” Bala Gombe fired, insisting that many of today’s political heavyweights, including Kwankwaso himself, rose to prominence at a young age.
Turning the heat further, Bala Gombe urged older politicians to step aside and allow a new generation to take charge.
According to him, the era demands fresh energy, with elders playing advisory roles rather than dominating the political stage.
“They enjoyed opportunities in their youth—now they should allow youths to steer the ship,” he declared.
The clash took a sharper twist as Bala Gombe accused Kwankwaso of acting as an “APC mole,” questioning his legitimacy to weigh in on the ongoing crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He recalled how, during the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar and other northern leaders allegedly urged Kwankwaso to step down in the interest of regional unity—an appeal he said was ignored.
“Having refused then, he has no moral ground to lecture me now,” Bala Gombe declared, warning that any political ambition within the ADC must follow due process.
In a bold closing salvo, Bala Gombe dismissed Kwankwaso’s relevance in the party’s internal matters, insisting he does not even recognise him as a member.
“I cannot be bullied by anyone,” he said—drawing a hard line in what is fast becoming a generational showdown within Nigeria’s political landscape.
