The Global South Youth Bureau, under Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, marked African Youth Day with a dynamic Model African Union simulation, celebrating the African Youth Charter and underscoring youth empowerment across the continent.
Youth leaders, researchers, and students specializing in political science and languages attended, taking part in engaging discussions and workshops on policy, governance, and life skills.
Hassan Ghazaly, Director of the Global South Youth Bureau, emphasized the African Youth Charter as a “landmark legal achievement,” reflecting governments’ commitment to youth rights in education, employment, health, and political participation.
This charter, he noted, empowers young Africans to participate actively in sustainable development and continental governance.
The day also featured sessions led by Nervana Fadel on the importance of positive psychology for personal growth, and researcher Mai Aglan’s workshop on policy paper fundamentals, equipping participants with practical tools for shaping public policy.
As the event closed, Ghazaly celebrated the African Union Simulation Model as a vital tool for monitoring and advancing youth policies across Africa, aligning with the continent’s vision for 2063.
