Renowned activist and convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, has called on the United States, United Kingdom, and other international bodies to impose a visa ban on the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and his family.

In a petition sent to Western embassies, Adeyanju accused Adejobi of using his position to suppress free speech and intimidate critics of the government. He alleged that the police PRO has been instrumental in silencing dissenting voices, both online and offline, through threats and harassment.

“This is a blatant attack on democracy and fundamental human rights,” Adeyanju stated, urging foreign governments to take action against what he described as “state-sponsored repression.”

The petition has sparked heated reactions, with some defending Adejobi’s role as a spokesperson maintaining law and order, while others argue that the police force must be held accountable for its alleged crackdown on free expression.

As the call for sanctions gains traction, all eyes are now on Western governments to see if they will act on Adeyanju’s demands.
