The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has declared that the party’s mission transcends the quest for political power ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja, Mark said the ADC is determined to build a sustainable political institution anchored on integrity, discipline, and service to the people.
“We are in a marathon; we must compete and win. Failure is not an option,” Mark stated. “Our focus is to build a party that is bigger than any individual, stronger than any moment, and unlike any political party Nigeria has ever seen.”
According to Vanguard, the former Senate President stressed that the ADC’s leadership will be people-oriented and pan-African in outlook, committed to addressing the needs of vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, retirees, and the poor.
Mark revealed that the party plans to review its constitution, introduce a code of ethics, and strengthen internal compliance systems. According to him, the ADC will also develop digital membership registers and train organisers to enhance its structures at ward, local, and state levels.
He said only candidates with Character, Competence, Courage, and Discipline the party’s four “non-negotiable” pillars, will be allowed to contest under the ADC banner in 2027.
On policy direction, Mark said the ADC would prioritise price stability, steady power supply, agricultural development, and transparent coordination of fiscal and monetary policies if elected into government.
He also pledged that the party would champion constitutional reforms to promote internal democracy, accountability, and separation of powers.
