ADC to Tinubu: ‘We’ll Defend Nigeria’s Democracy by Every Lawful Means’

Borno State Government

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a firm and unmistakable warning following actions taken by Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, February 18, declaring its readiness to defend Nigeria’s democracy “by every constitutional and lawful means available.”

In a strongly worded message addressed to Nigerians, friends of Nigeria, and the international community, the party described itself as a duly constituted political platform in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the nation’s democratic order.

The ADC stated that recent developments have raised concerns significant enough to warrant vigilance and collective responsibility. While refraining from inflammatory rhetoric, the party emphasized that democracy must remain sacred and untouchable.

“We are ready, willing, and fully prepared to defend the sanctity of Nigeria’s democracy,” the statement read, stressing that its actions would remain within the bounds of the Constitution and the rule of law.

Political observers say the declaration signals a brewing showdown in the nation’s political landscape, as opposition parties increasingly position themselves ahead of critical national developments.

The ADC further urged Nigerians to remain calm but alert, assuring citizens that it would pursue all legitimate democratic channels — including legal and institutional processes — to safeguard the will of the people.

As tensions simmer in the political space, all eyes are now on how events unfold in the coming days, with many analysts describing the moment as a defining test for Nigeria’s democratic resilience.
