The African Democratic Congress in Borno State has reaffirmed its total and unwavering endorsement of the constitutionally recognized Borno State Transitional Committee and Membership Registration Committee, both duly approved by the National Working Committee of the party.

.This position was restated by the Chairman of the ADC Transitional Committee in Borno State, Alhaji Ali Bukar Wurge, while addressing journalists at the party’s state headquarters in Maiduguri.

Alhaji Ali Bukar Wurge described the Transitional Committee as the only legitimate authority mandated to reorganize, stabilize, and reposition the party in Borno State in line with the ADC Constitution and national guidelines. He stressed that the committee derives its authority directly from the National Working Committee and therefore remains legally and morally unassailable.

The party expressed deep concern over what it described as a violent and calculated attack on democratic order during the inauguration of the Transitional Committee.

The incident, it noted, was not a protest but a deliberate act of political violence targeted at a lawful party process. Several vehicles belonging to party members were destroyed, a police vehicle was vandalized, and eleven persons, including police officers, sustained injuries while discharging their constitutional responsibilities.

The ADC stated that such actions represent a direct assault on democracy, rule of law, and peaceful political participation. It warned that political ambition must never be pursued through violence, intimidation, or the destruction of public and private property.

The party extended heartfelt sympathy and solidarity to the injured party members and police officers, acknowledging their courage and sacrifice in defense of constitutional order. It described their injuries as a painful reminder of the cost of democracy and assured them that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

The ADC firmly rejected what it called false narratives and misinformation being circulated to justify the violent disruption. It reiterated that the Transitional Committee was constituted strictly in accordance with the ADC Constitution and Electoral Guidelines and duly ratified by the National Working Committee. Any attempt to deny this legitimacy, the party said, amounts to deliberate distortion of facts and an affront to party supremacy.

The party declared that the attack has only strengthened its resolve to accelerate internal reorganization, deepen grassroots mobilization, and consolidate alliances with progressive forces across political divides. It stated that the goal remains the building of a strong, disciplined, and credible political platform capable of offering Borno State an alternative future anchored on good governance, accountability, and people centered leadership.

The ADC called on all party stakeholders to place party unity above personal ambition, reminding members that loyalty to constitutional authority remains the foundation of internal democracy. It emphasized that the decisions of the National Working Committee are final and binding on all party structures and individuals.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful, lawful, and constitutional political engagement, declaring that violence, intimidation, and factionalism have no place in its ideology or future. It pledged to remain focused on rebuilding the party into a formidable electoral force capable of delivering transformational leadership to the people of Borno State.

The ADC concluded by urging all members to remain calm, disciplined, and united, stressing that the moment demands courage, unity, and unwavering commitment to democratic principles. The party declared that it would not be distracted by violence but would remain resolute in its mission to reclaim and reposition Borno State through credible and people driven governance.
