ActionAid Nigeria in partnership with Dispute Resolution and Development Initiative (DRDI-DAG), as part of its efforts towards supporting communities to strengthen community resilience against violent extremism and to tackle radicalization to violent extremism in Nigeria.
The programme which is specific focus on Kano State in implementing the “System and Structure Strengthening Approach against Radicalization to Violent Extremism (SARVE III) Project in Kano State” with the aims of equipin grass root communities with sustainable ability, capacity and structures to utilize available resources to prevent radicalization, respond to, withstand and overcome impact of adverse violence extremism should it occur.
Community leaders (who are expected to be resilient against the penetration of their communities by suspected extremist groups) and duty bearers (who’s duty is to create enabling environment to prevent violent extremism) at community level.
Town hall meeting is a vital means to advance sustainable development issues by making it more responsive and accountable to people’s needs and demands, such as better outcomes for all stakeholders and community ownership.

When the community is involved in a project, they have ownership of it and the decision-making process, which is key to a successful project outcome.
The goal is to improve people condition and promoting well-being and more inclusive peaceful societies.
These combined factors with prevailing socio-economic crises led to radicalization and recruitment in the North West of the country and a perennial inter-communal violence across the west states.
The town hall meeting for this quarter is focused on issues around livelihood, how it improved self dependence of women and youth. Also the importance of communities taking it seriously in terms of providing secured places for the livelihood equipment
The chairman of Gwarzo and Tudunwada community have provided a secured place for the rice milling and groundnut oil machines to be installed respectively.
Also plans for celebrating the international youth day coming up in August is discussed on how Action Aid Nigeria in partnership with DAG intend to train youth across communities in digital skills and set up a competition for a prize of 200,000 Naira only.
