The ActionAid Nigeria through the System and Structure Strengthening Approach against Radicalization to Violent Extremism (SARVE III) has organised the Peace fiesta and football match friendly to curtail Voilent among Youths in Kano state.

The Project which in partnership with Dispute Resolution and Development Initiative (DAG) in collaboration with the Kano State Ministry of youth and sports development and Kano State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, commemorates the 2024 International Day of Peace in a Friendly Kick for Peace Football Match and Cultural Peace Fiesta.

The Projects that are funding by the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF).

in his remarks during the events the executive Director of DAG kano state Dr.Mustapha Muhammad Yahaya said Cultivating a Culture of Peace is part of the SARVE III efforts towards supporting communities to strengthen their resilience against violent extremism and to tackle radicalization to violent extremism in Nigeria.

Dr.Muhammad Mustapha added that the Kick for Peace Friendly Football Match and Cultural Peace Fiesta is an opportunity to engage with youths and stakeholders at the community, local, and state levels through sport and cultural creations.

”This call to Action recognizes the urgent need for individual and collective responsibility to cultivate a culture of peace in Kano State.

He maintained that the positive engaging the Youths and creative talents discovered, a change of narrative and call for action from young leaders, activists, and performers to cultivate a culture of peace.

In her remarks the deputy Country director of ActionAid Nigeria Hajiya Suwaiba Muhammad Dankabo Said the international Peace Day is an annual observance which advocates a call to action to all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

Hajiya Dankabo lament that it is pivotal to recognise how the SDG 16 (Peace Justice and Strong Institution) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the goals) contribute to the aspiration of a harmonious world.

”As We collaboration with Global Peace Development is celebrating the 2024 International Peace Day with the theme “Cultivating a Culture of Peace.” today Dankabo added.

”Aimed at mobilising and campaigning against any form of ethnicism, discrimination and intolerance that exist in our society.

”We all lose in a society characterized by discrimination, division, distrust, intolerance, and hate.”

”This should be a struggle which we all have a part to play for inclusive development as key for preventing conflict , enabling long-term stability and sustainable peace.

She highlighted that In a world with rising geopolitical tensions and protracted conflicts, there has never been a better time to remember.

Furthermore She added that the 24 Community Action and Response Teams (CARTs) have been formed to enhance early warning capabilities, along with 12 Local Conflict Management Alliance (LOCMA) and 50 Peace clubs, all of which are instrumental in fostering peace and harmony.

The Deputy Country Director once again appreciate their key partners in building resilience and fighting against Violent extremism.
