The historic occasion, which took place, 30th January 2026, at Pinnacle Apartment, Maiduguri, was graced by an array of eminent personalities drawn from across institutional, governmental, and community sectors, reflecting the wide-reaching impact of his service. In attendance were senior police officers, heads of security agencies, top government officials, philanthropists, members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), representatives of the GSM Village, traditional leaders, religious leaders, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and numerous stakeholders who came to pay tribute and bid him farewell.
The colourful ceremony attracted representatives of acting Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, Garba Musa, top police officers, government officials, friends, and well-wishers who gathered to honour his dedication, discipline, and commitment to duty over the years.
Among dignitaries in attendance were the Chairman of the Borno State Civil Service Commission, Bulama Mali Gubio, members of the Borno State House of Assembly including Dige Mohammed, and other key stakeholders.
They commended the retired officer for his professionalism and contributions to maintaining law and order in the state.
Speakers at the event described Officer Ibrahim’s retirement as the end of an impactful chapter, noting that his leadership, wealth of experience, and service record have left a lasting legacy within the Police Force and the communities he served.
In goodwill and farewell speeches delivered at the ceremony, ACP Ibrahim O. Mohammed was described as a symbol of disciplined leadership, operational excellence, humility, and unwavering institutional loyalty. He was eulogised as an officer who embodied firmness with fairness, authority with compassion, and command with mentorship.
In his remarks, the retired officer expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force, his colleagues, family members, and supporters for their unwavering support throughout his years of service.
He pledged to continue contributing positively to society even in retirement.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Police College, Borno Command, congratulated the retired officer, praising his resilience and commitment to service.
On her part, his wife barrister Zara thank all for joining her husband to celebrate his retirement with joy.
The event featured goodwill messages, the presentation of gifts, and moments of celebration in recognition of his meritorious service.
The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) also presented gifts to the retired officer in honour of his retirement.
Speakers further acknowledged his gallant role in the fight against insurgency and the numerous achievements recorded during his service, particularly his courageous leadership of gallant men who liberated displaced communities. efforts which earned him presidential recognition by the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, with the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) in 2023.
They also highlighted his contributions to strengthening police community relations, promoting public trust in law enforcement, and building a culture of professionalism, accountability, and service ethics. Community leaders praised his accessibility and justice-driven leadership, while colleagues commended his mentorship of younger officers and his vital contribution to security stability in Borno State.
The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid psc, described the event as not merely a retirement ceremony, but a collective expression of gratitude from a people whose lives and communities were positively impacted by his service. He noted that it symbolizes the rare honour of a public servant whose exit from active duty is marked by institutional respect, community applause, and enduring legacy.
