The Katsina State Chapter of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has commenced a strategic programme of courtesy visits to eminent elders of the state, in a renewed drive to deepen engagement, unity and inclusive dialogue.
The outreach formally took off with a visit to former Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, widely regarded as one of the state’s most respected elder-statesmen.
The delegation, drawn from the State Executive Council and Congress of the forum, was led by the Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Malumfashi, alongside the Secretary, Alhaji Bello Iron Dabai, and the Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sada Salisu Ruma (Danwairen Katsina), among other officials.
Speaking during the visit, Malumfashi said the engagement marked the first in a series of planned consultations with elders across Katsina State, aimed at fostering cordial relations and strengthening collective efforts for development.
“The purpose of this visit is to seek the support and cooperation of Katsina elders in uniting our people, creating opportunities, and strengthening collaboration at all levels,” he said.
He described the visit as a moment of pride for the Katsina ACF, noting that Alhaji Jikamshi is widely admired for his integrity, inclusive leadership style and consistent commitment to community development.
Malumfashi further stressed that the ACF, as a non-partisan and non-governmental organisation, remains committed to working with Northern state governments and well-meaning citizens to promote peace, unity and sustainable development across the region. He also described Jikamshi as a strong and respected member of the forum in Katsina State.
In his response, Alhaji Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi expressed appreciation and delight over the visit, describing it as an honour to be the first elder engaged under the initiative.
“I feel honoured and respected. I am truly delighted,” he said, pledging his continued support and contributions to the forum. “I am with you, and we will do everything within our capacity to support this initiative.”
He also advised the ACF to expand its outreach by encouraging more elders to actively participate in its activities, stressing the importance of inclusiveness without discrimination or exclusion.
